Wall Shop Supervisor Under the general direction of the EVP of Operations, the Wall Shop supervisor will oversee and supervise the construction of wall built in the shop and assure that they meet specification by conducting a through quality control process. Repairs and maintains power tools inventory for Construction Supervisors and staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Wall Shop: •Trains and supervises volunteers, employees, and Hutchinson crew in building components, walls, and house packs for shipment to the field and in maintaining a safe, clean and organized shop. •Ensures that walls meet quality requirements and are built to the latest wall schedules and component placement drawings by printing copy from L drive. Performs quality control checks to specification and makes any corrections. Files printed documents after completing house walls notating: date built, volunteer organization participating, and verification of quality inspection made. •Operates fork lifts to move materials, walls and other materials. •Operates scissor lift to maintain, repair, and install various shop fixtures. •Maintains lumber and supplies inventories in a neat, safe, organized manor. Sorts and selects lumber keeping rejected lumber aside for return to supplier. •Coordinates the lumber and supply requirements to the build schedule. Notifies Purchasing of need to replenish materials required to build walls. •Designs and implements shop improvements for safety and efficiency. •Maintains a safe and healthy work environment in and around the department. Insures fork lifts are operated safely when in the shop area. Maintaining power tools: •Maintains inventory log of power tools, performing periodic audits. Engraves and spray paints DAHfH identification marks onto all power tools. •Checks power tools in and out to construction supervisors as needed •Has tools repaired and records on inventory log. •Maintains inventory of blades and bits for tools, having them sharpened as required. •Other duties as assigned. Language Skills: • Ability to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate. • Ability to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. • Ability to describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to read and write in Standard English. • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Work Environment: The employee is subject to varies environmental conditions. The employee’s job activities occur inside and outside of the facility. The employee is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, high places, and exposure to chemicals. The employee is also exposed to atmospheric conditions that could affect the respiratory system such as fumes, odors, dust, gases, mist and or poor ventilation. Physical Activity & Requirements While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, grasp, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push, and pull. The employee will be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and/or to make general observations of the facilities or structures.
