Project Manager Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for an IT Project Manager position in San Antonio, TX. The IT Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and completion of IT software development and other IT-related projects. The Project Manager oversees all aspects of project management to include setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities with the support of the Software Development and Technical Support managers, and monitoring, summarizing, and reporting progress of project status. This position will build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments/stakeholders involved in the projects. Typical duties include: Strategy & Planning: Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Consult with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Track project milestones and deliverables. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle. Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management. Operational Management: Direct and manage project development from beginning to end. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. Provide input on programmer detail designs to help ensure consistency and software quality. Organize and lead test cycles to adequately ensure test coverage and demonstrate software quality. Understand user needs in sufficient detail to make process recommendations and write detailed requirements specifications. Author User Guides and other training aids as needed to assist user comprehension of new system functions. Acquisition & Development: Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Draft and submit budget proposals, recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary. Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company. Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary, during project cycle. Performs other duties as assigned. The candidate selected for employment will be required to submit to a criminal background check, and education verification. Bachelor’s degree in Information or Computer Science. Master’s degree preferred. 5 years’ direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution. Knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment Direct work experience with software development including life cycle models Experience using Agile performance metrics such as Product Backlog reports, Sprint Feature Reports, Burndown/burnup charts and Velocity charts to report Agile project status and drive accountability and continuous improvement. Project Management Professional (PMP) Required Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) preferred Technical Certifications preferred. Valid driver’s license Acceptable MVR (annual) MS Office Programs Project management software CRM Web Services Programing languages and concepts Database and OS Experience Working knowledge of Internet technologies Competent and proficient understanding of platforms Contact Information
