Greater China M&A Correspondent

Reuters is looking for a scoop-hungry journalist with great sources to join our global finance and markets team as Greater China M&A Correspondent, based in Hong Kong. In this role, the successful candidate will focus on breaking M&A stories in what has historically been the most active deals market in Asia.   

About the Role:

As Greater China M&A Correspondent, you will:

  • Consistently break news on a fiercely competitive and challenging beat
  • Work on insightful and high-impact stories, taking readers inside companies' board rooms and shedding new light on the key decision makers behind large deals in China
  • Have the drive to pursue stories with tenacity and perseverance
  • Possess exceptional source-building and networking skills
  • Work closely and seamlessly with colleagues in the global finance and markets team as well as in the company news team

About You:

To be our Greater China M&A Correspondent, you are likely to have:

  • Deep understanding and interest in dealmaking and deal makers, as well as the rapidly changing regulatory environment in China
  • A strong track record of delivering scoops and the ability to write with flair
  • Previous reporting experience and investment banking contacts in Greater China
  • Strong sourcing and ability to dig for information and be relentlessly competitive
  • The ability to understand and explain complicated deal and regulatory terms
  • Be a strong team player
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, with strong English writing skills
