Description:
The Business Operations Department at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science has an exciting opportunity for a full time Financial Analyst to work on the Rosenstiel Campus.

The successful candidates will be required to develop, analyze, and maintain various reports based upon current and historical data; review operating budgets to analyze trends affecting budget needs; conduct quarterly analyses of operating expenses; and provide year-end projections. They will also serve as a resource for other departments providing assistance to faculty and staff with cost analysis and fiscal allocation. Will consult with departments regarding budget analysis, financial reports, reconciliations, irregular and unusual transactions and problem resolutions.
Develop, analyze, and maintain various reports based upon current and historical data; review operating budgets to analyze trends affecting budget needs; conduct quarterly analyses of operating expenses; and provide year-end projections.
Manage over fifty operational accounts (general, designated, restricted and/or plant accounts) and ensure they are being adequately monitored and reconciled; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds. Responsible for expenditure control.
Serve as a resource for other departments providing assistance to faculty and staff with cost analysis and fiscal allocation. Consult with departments regarding budget analysis, financial reports, reconciliations, irregular and unusual transactions and problem resolutions.
Perform account reconciliation against the Universityís Financial Records System (Workday).
Oversee fiscal management for assigned cost centers including billing, expenditure requests, and account reconciliation.
Responsible for fiscal year closing of assigned accounts.
Support the Executive Director for Business and Finance, Associate Director for Finance, and direct supervisor operationally and with other projects as needed.
Performance, at the highest professional level, of all other duties as may be assigned.
Work in conjunction with manager on space allocation reporting including but not limited to effort distribution analysis, determination of space utilization, and providing reports regarding space use and allocations.
Work with faculty and department administrators regarding equipment inventory. Work in conjunction with manager on annual equipment certification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelorís degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is required.
Two years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an academic and research setting.
Ability to work in a complex environment with the skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve stated goals.
Ability to work as a team or independently.
Attention to detail.
Ability to learn quickly.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent computer (specifically Excel) and organizational skills.
