Job Description
Associate, Applied Epidemiology
Reports to: Manager, Applied Epidemiology

Location: Office in Washington, DC; Option to Work Remotely in US Only

The Associate, Applied Epidemiology supports a variety of administrative and programmatic activities for the Applied Epidemiology Team’s research and advocacy projects. This team member keeps things running smoothly, taking care of the fundamental work required to maintain project activities. The Associate is a self-starter who is detail-oriented, eager to learn and take on a variety of tasks and shares the team’s passion for driving public health impact through research and advocacy.

Responsibilities:

Administrative Support (60%)
• Coordinate sub-award contracts, prepare payments, document finalized contracts in Salesforce, and track reporting and payment deadlines
• Provide general support to project, update meetings with team members and external collaborating partners, including planning, scheduling, material preparation and note-taking
• Work with Accounting Team to complete team-related expense reports and check requests and reconcile corporate credit card
• Ensure compliance with Sabin, funding agency and partner expectations, including through tracking monthly funder reports, quarterly Board updates and intergovernmental agency documentation
• Proofread, format and submit key documents, presentations and scientific event proposals
• Assist with travel planning, including completion of travel forms and visa applications; coordinate international and domestic travel for Vice President, Applied Epidemiology and partners
• Provide executive support to Vice President, Applied Epidemiology, as needed
• Other duties, as assigned

Advocacy & Communications Program Support (20%)
• Administer Take on Typhoid website, including posting blogs and content updates
• Follow news reports and publications related to typhoid and posts on the Take on Typhoid website
• Track and report on Take on Typhoid website and social platform metrics
• Opportunity to assist with social media (Twitter, Facebook)
• Opportunity to assist with conference and event planning

Research Program Support (20%)
• Conduct literature reviews and landscape analyses for new and existing projects
• Maintain updated research project codebook and data collection forms
• Opportunity to assist with data cleaning

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 2+ years relevant experience in administrative support, public health, global health or related field
•Excellent professional communication skills (active listening, writing, speaking)
• Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word), Adobe Acrobat, Zoom video conferencing and conducting internet searches
• Highly organized, with strong attention to record-keeping and detail
• Able to prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
• Solves problems with creativity and critical thinking
• Cultural sensitivity, effective at working with others over geographical distance
• Experience or interest in learning Salesforce and SAS (importing, merging data sets, cleaning data, exporting to Excel) desired
• Experience or interest in learning WordPress (posting, formatting, updating) preferred
• Experience preparing and/or coordinating contracts, reporting and payments, a plus
• Work experience within a grant-funded environment, a plus
• Professional experience with travel, event and meeting arrangements preferred
• Superior service orientation; works across the organization, building strong relationships with colleagues
