Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and facilitate DEI efforts at the divisional level
Partner with Program Directors to ideate, plan, and implement DEI efforts preschool through adults.
Collaborate with Chaplains, Counselors, and Deans in each division to cultivate cultural competency in support of sustaining a school culture of belonging.
Coordinate and collaborate with affinity group leaders in all divisions to facilitate interdivisional alignment and solidarity.
Oversee DEI programming opportunities for students like “It’s time to talk” and the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference in the Upper School, as well as comparable programming and events in Middle and Lower Schools.
Coach faculty/staff/school leaders
Provide educational coaching to faculty, staff, and school leaders, strategically building capacity and deepening skill development in DEI to create equitable outcomes for all.
Coach and support divisional administrative teams to sustain an equitable community culture. This may include one-on-one coaching with team members, program support, or responding to bias incidents.
In partnership with Program Directors, lead the DEI Resource Team, collaborating with other DEI leaders in the school community.
Convene and facilitate the faculty/staff BIPOC/LGBTQ+ affinity group.
Support the mission, values, and outcome statement of the school
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, school leaders, students, and families.
Work to align the day to day lived experiences of students and families with Breck’s Mission, Values and Outcome Statement.
Partner with all stakeholders to uphold Breck’s equity literacy framework in the classroom, and advance our anti-bias/anti-racism/anti-oppression commitments.
Implement and oversee the school’s programmatic DEI Community Commitments
Partner with Program Directors to clarify roles and responsibilities for all DEI efforts PK-12 including vision, strategy, and implementation.
Support the stewardship of the Community Commitments developed in the 2020-2021 school year, and continue to cultivate broad community engagement and ownership on all DEI efforts.
Build capacity with adults to ensure that all students experience a culture of belonging within the school community.
Serve as school liaison to the Parent Association Diversity and Inclusion Committee (Caregivers for Belonging) supporting and aligning all programming, practices, and events.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
Previous teaching experience preferred
