Senior Manager - Financial Reporting, AIG

The Senior Manager Financial reporting, AIG oversees the global Planning & Reporting landscape for the group and is responsible for the design, implementation and management of Financial reporting Systems. This role is actively involved process optimization, develop requirements, create roadmaps, and manipulate, and manage data connections, tool workflows, templates and permissions to deliver meaningful transformation leveraging financial reporting tools like Workiva, Dodeca etc.

Reporting to the Director, Systems & Planning, AIG, this role has a great deal of visibility and engagement with senior leadership. In addition, the position is responsible for developing solid cross-functional business partnerships, leading special projects and improving processes across an organization with substantial volume and system complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing system requirements, designing and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures and implementing with specific focus on Financial reporting and workflow management
  • Mapping data flows and to identify optimal design and governance options as well as potential risks
  • Overall responsibility for Financial reporting, workflow automation across all the divisions of AIG
  • Assess the operational and/or technical baseline of an organization as specifically associated with its functional components
  • Document and maintain clear, concise functional and technical specifications for financial reporting applications and business system processes and cross functional support to IT team to write custom Business Rules and/or Calculation Scripts for custom logic to facilitate budgeting and forecasting needs for Workflow automation tools like Workiva and Dodeca implementation
  • Be the change agent and evangelize the technology solutions and provide required trainings to Finance groups
  • Provide technical insight into the determination of technical inadequacies and/or deficiencies that affect the functional area’s ability to support and meet organizational goals
  • Collaborate with technology and functional leaders to create a technical roadmap for enterprise-based products
  • Drive standardization of tools, processes, and reporting solutions that facilitate key business insights across the division through collaborative partnerships with Commercial, Business Unit, FP&A, and Corporate Systems teams
  • Assist with the integration of Hyperion applications with existing processes, including budgeting, forecasting, financial consolidation and close, and data warehouse/management reporting
  • Design and implement custom reports using Hyperion reporting tools to address company needs and improve frequency, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting
  • Support overall data strategy of centralization, consistency, automation and visualization. Consider data as a key strategic business asset and seek to enhance and optimize wherever possible.
  • Remote manage, develop and train a team of analysts.


  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance with experience in financial reporting systems, computing, and/or data sciences preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of technical or advisory-related experience in controllership, accounting, financial planning and analysis, reporting or successful completion of Thermo Fisher Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP)
  • Experience with packaged technologies (e.g., S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud, Workday, BlackLine, Workiva) or RPA
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; Power BI, SQL and data science skills preferred.
  • Project experience in areas such as process mapping, root cause/gap analysis/best fit, requirements gathering / definition development, financial modeling and value mapping
  • Highly numerate, with the ability to analyze, model and interpret complex system structures.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter with ability to maintain accuracy of information and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, team building, teaming and presentation experience
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and understand that there may be extra hours during the financial calendar.
