Three- Star Running Back Eden James Makes History and Becomes Howard's Highest Rated Recruit!

Three- Star Running Back Eden James Makes History and Becomes Howard
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 17, 2021

This week was a monumental week for HBCU sports. National Signing Day came with a few big surprises, including top football recruits making the decision to attend HBCUs. One of those athletes is the son of former NFL running back Edgerrin James. Eden James has officially committed to Howard University!

In an interview with Treasure Coast Newspapers, James said about the decision, “For me, it was very hard. Especially when ego takes place. I feel like my play was bigger than the stage they had. But you have to look at the overall situations. Everything with Howard was ideal for me.

There are schools that are bigger than Howard, but the situation wasn’t ideal.”

Eden James, along with top recruit Travis Hunter shook the world of college football when they both decided to attend HBCUs over the PWIs that were trying to recruit them, adding to the trend of Black athletes making the greatest decision they could ever make.

“I think it is a tremendous day for HBCUs,” he said. “You got Travis Hunter, the No. 1 player. This thing is about to take off. I’m sure other kids will follow. I’m happy and proud for HBCUs."

We sure hope so! Congratulations to Eden James and we can't wait to see him thrive at Howard!
