Northwestern Mutual is looking for a hard-working Senior Network Engineer to join their Edge Network Engineering team. This candidate will lead in designing, planning, and implementing enterprise data network solutions and modernizing our infrastructure through automation and software defined technologies.

WHAT'S THE ROLE?

Apply standard methodologies to analyze, design, develop, deploy and support network infrastructure in an enterprise environment. You move between diverse tasks with collaboration and persistence, helping to bring out the best in those around you.

• Lead projects to define and implement network infrastructure to support business needs

• Define goals/outcomes, timelines, planned work, and deliver completed outcomes independently or with minimal direction

• Communicate effectively with all partners, both technical and non-technical

• Anticipate customer issues and identify solutions to sophisticated problems

• Seek opportunities to improve processes and identify and implement solutions

• Act as an authority for one or more network technologies

• Act as a mentor for peers and contribute to achievement of team goals

• Participate in on-call rotation for tier 3/4 support

Bring your best! what this role needs:

• 7+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer, designing and managing highly available network infrastructure in a large enterprise

• Sophisticated technical knowledge/skills in the following:

• NAC/802.1x

• Layer two and layer three routing and switching

• Configuring and deploying network switches and routers including adding VLANs and routing protocols (including TCP/IP, BGP, and Multicast)

• Design, provisioning, and troubleshooting of WAN and LAN connectivity technologies (i.e. MPLS, LACP)

• Creating ACLs, TCP/IP sub-netting, and VLAN trunking

• Priority Queuing, Class of Service (CoS), and Quality of Service (QoS)

• Network monitoring solutions

• Handling DNS/DHCP/IPA

• Network automation, Python, Ansible

• Shown sense of ownership and the ability to work with a limited set of requirements

• Strong customer support skills working with varying degrees of technical capability

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Aruba wired and wireless products preferred

• Experience with Aruba ClearPass preferred, Cisco ISE or Forescout acceptable

• ITIL certification preferred

• Aruba certifications preferred, Cisco certifications acceptable
