Job Description
Process Engineering Manager

The Process Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Process Engineering team supporting all value streams. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing management, direction, staff development in a high paced manufacturing environment and will use troubleshooting, data analysis and problem-solving techniques with the overall objective of improving plant efficiencies. This individual will be required to develop, recommend and implement improvements to production processes, materials, methods and controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, yields, machine availability through lean techniques (DBS) and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste.

  • Support Value Streams as required in the resolution of high priority production and quality issues

  • Work with Quality to identify and resolve systemic quality issues

  • Identify and justify capital equipment investment

  • Drive functional excellence of the Process Engineering Team, develop staff as master problem solvers

  • Recruit, retain, mentor and develop the Process Engineering team

  • Review all available production data (product performance, process capability, product cost, etc.) and compare to industry standards, customer expectations and competitors.

  • Interface with R&D Engineering as required to gain needed support and also provide support as needed.

  • Define, establish, monitor and report key performance metrics to meet manufacturing objectives. Ensuring the KPIs and key goals are achieved, and that manufacturing capacity meets the established plan.

  • Develop staffing plans, assign projects and balance resource workload.

  • Demonstrates high levels of attention to safety and ethical behavior

REQUIREMENTS

Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or similar field.

  • 3+ years of practical engineering management experience.

  • Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency executing/implementing Design of Experiments (DOEs), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Ishikawa Diagrams, optimization, and other systematic tools.

  • Must have the ability to analytically evaluate data and information, use progressive problem-solving methods and implement solutions.

  • Knowledge and ability to apply standards and codes published by such authorities as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in oral and written forms at any level within the organization and interact effectively with customers and external business professionals.

  • Strong program/project management, leadership, team building, and mentoring skills. Must be able to drive business relevant projects and ensure a positive impact for customers.

  • Ability to prioritize activities and to remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

  • Experience with Automated and Semi-Automated assembly preferred

Education

  • Bachelors degree required in Manufacturing, Process Engineering, or Engineering field (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Science)

  • Quality Management System experience preferred.
