Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelorís degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
Two years of increasingly responsible accounting paid work experience.
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
Excellent attention to detail is essential.
Excellent communication skills and an interpersonal service-oriented attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

Higher education work experience.
Experience with Banner by Ellucian software.
Experience reviewing and preparing financial statements.

General Function:

This position is responsible for maintaining the Banner Finance accounting software and coordinating accounting operations for the College.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

(Duties and responsibilities listed are examples of work performed and maybe modified as needs of the College may dictate)

ACCOUNTING RELATED DUTIES

Maintains Banner system and implements upgrades and new applications as required.
Prints all vendor checks using Banner and Evisions Intellecheck software.
Assists with preparation of year end adjustments and closing entries.
Prepares annual financial statements and support schedules.
Coordinates reconciliation of all Banner accounts.
Responsible for the all non-equipment depreciation calculations for the College.
Reviews equipment depreciation calculations for the College.
Performs reconciliations for general operating bank account and LGIP accounts.
Provides accounting and other support for the Payroll function as needed.
Prepares various spreadsheet analyses, i.e., revenue projections and expenditure cost allocations, as requested to support the budget process and operation of the College.
Assists with preparation of the budgets of the College.
Provides variance explanations and support documentation for accounting entries, and prepares other analyses as requested by auditors.
Performs necessary functions relating to unclaimed property and sales tax reporting.
Prepares the annual IPEDS finance submission.
Prepares the annual Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) submission.
Loads data from Excel spreadsheets into Banner using the FUPLOAD process.
Monitors bank balances and recommends to the Comptroller when transfers are needed.

OTHER DUTIES

Responsible for all aspects of grant accounting including the preparation and submission of reports.
Maintains Banner Finance security for funds and orgs (FOMPROF).
Maintains the Budgetary Head Spreadsheet.
Reviews all travel authorizations and travel claims to determine if the claims and authorizations are prepared according to the established travel policy.
Oversees the disposal of records for the Business Office and ensures that the Business Office is in compliance with TBR and State of TN guidelines and policies.
Other duties as assigned.
