Special Education, Assistant Professor
The Department of Special Education in the School of Education at the University of Saint Joseph invites applications for a full-time position in the department of special education. The mission of the Department is to prepare highly effective practitioners whose work is grounded in current research, theory and evidence-based intervention practices. Successful candidates will serve in a tenure track, nine-month position, beginning in August 2018.

Position Description
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in special education.
• Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
• Participation in program and curriculum development.
• Pursuing a research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
• Participation in clinical and field experience development and supervision

Required Skills/Qualifications
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas of Special Education:
o Literacy Instruction and Intervention
o Academic Assessment
• An earned doctorate in special education or a related field. ABDs with clear timeline for completion will also be considered.
• Experience in K-12 special education settings.
• University/College teaching grounded in current research, theory, and evidence-based practices.
• Evidence of working successfully with culturally and racially diverse K-12 student populations.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
• Research agenda grounded in special education or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated commitment to collaboration in University and community contexts.
• Involvement with developing and maintaining university-school partnerships.
• Experience in leadership roles in Department, School and/or University.
• Experience in the successful development of special education teachers.
• Experience in use of instructional technologies (i.e., LiveText, Blackboard, K-12 applications) with children, teacher candidates and/or practicing teachers.
• Knowledge and/or experience in implementation of edTPA.
