Assistant Professor of Athletic Training
The University of Southern Maineís College of Science, Technology and Health seeks candidates for a 9 month faculty appointment at the Assistant faculty rank within the Department of Exercise, Health, and Sport Scienceís (EHSS) Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited undergraduate Athletic Training Program (ATP). This is a tenure-track faculty appointment. Anticipated start date is September 1, 2017.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses within the Departmentís CAATE accredited ATP and within the candidateís area of expertise. Tenure-track faculty typically teach nine credit hours per academic semester. The selected candidate will also conduct, present and publish scholarly activities in state, region and national forums and will provide service to the department, college, university, community and profession.

The Department of EHSS offers degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Health Sciences. These innovative programs offer students the opportunity to gain clinical experience while using the most advanced athletic training and exercise science equipment available. EHSS offers accredited, professional programs that provide a quality learning environment through content-rich curricula, student-faculty interactions, and active learning experiences to emphasize the application of knowledge. Qualifications:

Required: A completed Doctorate, certification as an athletic trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC) and the ability to obtain licensure as an athletic trainer in the State of Maine. Though candidates who have yet to complete the doctorate will be considered, the terminal degree must be completed by the positionís start date or a date negotiated between the candidate and the university.

Preferred: Content area teaching expertise in therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, kinesiology and methods of resistance training. American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response teaching certification or willingness to obtain such certification. Evidence of scholarly productivity, university level teaching experience and supervision of athletic training students in the clinical setting. Graduate of an accredited athletic training program.

Salary range: low to mid 50ís
