Overview:
The Project Manager will manage multiple electrical projects through CPDEP (Gated Capital Decision Process) phases 1-5 for of the Global Real Estate Projects & Services Group. Projects will typically be capital & expense upgrades to Chevron Office facilities and infrastructure. Responsibilities include providing overall project management leadership; championing the application of CPDEP principles; and driving the behaviors necessary to ensure high level decision quality and top quartile cost and schedule performance. Provides work direction to less experienced team membersKey Responsibilities :
• Coordinates all work from conception to completion of multiple projects, including design, procurement, construction and start-up activities • Coordinates activities across multiple disciplines • Establishes objectives and expectations for implementation of all necessary Chevron Project Development and Execution Processes and tools, including obtaining "Best Practical" FEL and Cost Index scores, develop staffing plans for projects, setting direction for experienced contract and technical personnel, producing purchase and service orders, developing project objectives for safety, schedule, cost and operability
Electrical Engineering Responsibilities :
• Direct the design development process for drawings and specifications for new and modifications of existing facility electrical systems including but not limited to the following: • Power distribution systems 15KV and below including support for central chiller plant equipment • Energy metering systems including Client/Server based monitoring, display and database reporting tools • Lighting systems particularly for commercial office environments. • Energy efficient design practices, analytical methods and operations metrics and measures • Emergency and standby power systems including applications of diesel generators • Uninterruptable Power Supply systems for support of mission critical data centers and IT/Telco switching equipment • Integration of Fire Alarm, Security and Building management control systems • Manage all aspects of the serving utility (PG&E) electrical power service level agreement for the site • Direct the performance of the above tasks by outside design professionals. Establish cost, schedule and quality performance metrics. Evaluate and review work product for compliance, and perform related contract administration tasks • Develop and or apply appropriate standards for materials and methods of construction, installation and operation of electrical systems and equipment. Guide and direct the plant engineering operations staff on O&M issues related to electrical systems • Provide electrical engineering support to TI/Construction project teams including design reviews, permitting related issues, equipment selection alternative analysis, cost and schedule estimating • Provide direction on the application of NEC/NFPA and Electrical safe work codes, practices and procedures
Project Management Responsibilities :
• With responsibility for cost and schedule performance plan, organize, staff, direct and control the facility project design and construction activities including but not limited to: • Bid document preparation, contractor/vendor evaluation and selection • Construction management either directly or through General Contractor • Startup and commissioning, permitting/inspections, documentation and closeout • Direct the project team including internal and external design professionals in the development of project Scope, investigation and evaluation of alternatives. Develop and maintain and report cost and schedule estimates and performance throughout the project • Understand and apply standard construction project financial analysis tools including IRR, NPV, life cycle costing and ROCE • Develop familiarity and competence in the application of the Chevron Project Development and Execution Processes and tools (CPDEP) for project management
Required Qualifications :
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • A minimum of 5 years experience in a construction environment, managing electrical projects • Registered professional Electrical Engineering license in the State of California • Knowledge of facilities and integration of project work in operating facilities • Good understanding of basic business principles and their application to projects (i.e. life cycle cost, ROCE, IRR, NPV cash flow analysis) • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management practices • Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision • Excellent customer focus • A strong safety champion who will lead projects to achieve "0" incidents and injuries • Able to perform electrical engineering design work and review electrical engineering drawings done by others to ensure accuracy
Preferred Qualifications :
• Ability to plan and organize projects from inception to completion including start up. • Demonstrated experience in capital project work. • Understanding of gated decision-making process (CPDEP) for projects. • Familiarity with SAP enterprise IT system
