Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., is accepting online applications for the position of Team Leader, Rotating Equipment Reliability (RER) located in Richmond, California through November 18, 2009

Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the performance of the RER Team including daily, turnaround, and project support for rotating and reciprocating machinery and their associated systems. Also, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the RER team organizational capability, including oversight of both represented and non-represented employees. The position reports to the Manager - Inspection and ReliabilityKey Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership in developing bad actor resolutions, repair and maintenance strategies, and design alternatives that address health, safety, environmental, reliability, operability, and maintainability issues.
  • Maintains close contact with Business Unit customers on critical field jobs, and manages these jobs or their critical parts as needed
  • Oversees the development and implementation of improved technical tools and work processes.
  • Ensures IMI records are documented accurately and completely with emphasis on root cause identification, scope of repairs, and detailed records of internal or external inspections
  • Reviews proposed designs for adherence to Refinery, industry, regulation, and Corporate specifications. Leads refinery through consideration of Total Cost of Ownership when selecting equipment, components, or support systems.
  • Provides support to Maintenance, Technical and Operations personnel through the development and review of machinery repair checklists, preventive or predictive maintenance checklists, and maintenance or operating procedures as necessary
  • Provides leadership, management, and mentoring to improve efforts to detect and prevent machinery failure through the use of predictive and preventative techniques, and to ensure all machinery protection systems are armed and functional
  • Champions the effective use of the Loss Prevention System to identify behavior and work process improvement opportunities, root causes, and effective corrective actions that will help eliminate incidents and injuries.
  • Leads machinery root cause failure analysis efforts using support tools such as 5-Why and Taproot
  • Provides work direction and career guidance to Technicians, Analysts, and Engineers through daily interactions, technical mentoring, and performance management planning

    Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Supervisory experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Machinery Design or Maintenance
  • Refinery Process Plant experience
  • Incident investigation experience, particularly relating to equipment failures
  • Reliability Engineering experience
  • Familiarity with OE Elements 5.1-5.6 and 2.2

    This is a Safety Sensitive position
