Job Description
The Data Warehouse Director will be responsible for working with the business and technical teams to create and communicate a vision, strategy and roadmap for producing and maintaining a centralized data warehouse for the entire enterprise while maintaining existing platforms and associated work streams. The data warehouse will be positioned as t single source business analytics related to consumer, business, and systems related to the products and services offered to our customers, accuracy, and relevance are key success criteria for this team. This data must be delivered in a timely manner, in some cases in near real-time, and will be consumed by a variety of tools, dashboards and reports that drive our business.
This position will report to the Vice President of Engineering within Comcast Enterprise Technologies. Responsibilities Develop, communicate, and execute a vision for having the data warehouse and business intelligence environment increase the quality of service to our customers and deliver shareholder value. Partner with business and technical representatives to jointly create requirements and prioritize requested deliverables. The ability to influence people both directly and indirectly across all lines of business and levels of management. The ability to collect and synthesize diverse requirements and communicate them to different audiences (both technical and non-technical). Propose innovative solutions to meet the decision support needs of the business, which includes the providing leadership in the evaluation and selection of hardware and software used to manage the business intelligence and data warehouse environment. Develop a program to establish service level guidelines for performance and capacity management, and regularly participate in the operations reviews. Communicate openly and often with senior management, business teams, and customers of the data warehouse environment. Ability to direct teams to complete development projects and achieve results in an ambiguous and dynamic working environment using an agile delivery methodology. Recruit and develop a team to design and implement new data models and analytical capabilities. Inspire and promote a world class delivery approach within the data warehouse team and environments. Qualifications / Requirements
Qualifications and Experience BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or demonstrated experience in delivering data management and business intelligence solutions. A minimum of 7 years experience architecting large scale data warehouses. A minimum of 10 years of IT / IS experience preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience delivering data warehouse and business intelligence solutions within a telecommunications environment. Experience in data architecture, modeling and dimensional design. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience in the development and governance of successful data warehouse solutions and their supporting environments. Strong understanding of implementation processes and best practices around data warehousing and business intelligence. Must have experience both in developing strategies and tactics, and in determining the correct prioritization of work items to ensure the best business outcome. Strong experience managing large technical teams. Experience in managing multiple work streams with dynamic priorities. Strong awareness of delivery and operations fundamentals such as monitoring, data quality management, communication of solutions roadmaps, working with operations teams to implement new solutions, and defining and reporting on end-to-end data management SLAs related to capacity, availability, and reporting. Strong understanding of server, database, SAN, backup, and security architecture are highly desired. Experience with data warehouse appliance architectures such as Neteeza or Teradata. Experience delivering solutions using established database technologies such as Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server, IBM Information Server. Experience with ETL concepts and tools such as Oracle Warehouse Builder, Informatica, Ab Initio, and Talund. Experience with one or more of the following BI/Enterprise Reporting tools: Business Objects, Cognos, Brio, and Microstrategy, SAS. Strong foundation in SQL and RDBMS technology. Familiarity with a variety of programming languages such as Java, C/C++, or any other modern programming language is strongly desired.
